Western Sydney, the central hub of the Filipino-Australian community in NSW, is about to get a $30 million cash injection for arts projects that enrich various communities - but grant applications must be submitted by the end of this month.

The Crown Resorts Foundation last month announced the opening of the application process for project submissions for the Crown Resorts Foundation’s Western Sydney Arts Initiative.

This Initiative, originally announced in September 2013, is part of the Crown Resorts Foundation’s $60 million Sydney Arts Fund, a joint commitment by the Crown Resorts Foundation and Packer Family Foundation.

Over 10 years, beginning in financial year 2014/15, $30 million of funding will be allocated to eligible arts projects in Western Sydney. It is hoped this Initiative will enhance Western Sydney’s arts capacity, and encourage excellence, innovation and creativity in the arts.

"This Initiative will provide support to projects that cover the spectrum of opportunities for enhancing the dynamic and diverse arts sector in Western Sydney," said Crown Resorts CEO Rowen Craigie.

The Crown Resorts Foundation is seeking project submissions that are dynamic and relevant, that represent and promote the diverse identity of Western Sydney.

Focussing on young people’s engagement with the arts, these projects will:
* Provide opportunity for participation and engagement with the arts
* Enhance Indigenous arts and cultural programs
* Develop local professional arts practice
* Encourage community engagement
